Terms of Service

Version and effective date: 2026-09-26

These Terms govern your use of CookSocial, including our app, website, recipe library, community, AI tools, nutrition features and CookSocial Club. Please read them before agreeing. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

Your account and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or any higher minimum age required where you live, to use CookSocial. If you are under 18 or the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review these Terms and permit your use and any purchases, as required by law. Do not create an account for a child below the applicable minimum age. Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure and notify us of unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Do not impersonate others, harass people, upload unlawful material, exploit the service or bypass access controls, payment rules or usage limits.

Private imports and third-party sources

CookSocial helps you organize recipes from websites, social media, search results and external food databases in your personal library. An import can include a source link, thumbnail, ingredients, instructions or AI-extracted information. Personal-library imports are intended for private organization, not permission to redistribute the source material. Only import material you own, have permission to use, or may lawfully use under applicable law and the source terms. Do not bypass paywalls, access restrictions or technological protections. A source being publicly accessible, giving credit, using it privately or changing it does not automatically make copying lawful. Third-party services and websites have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not endorse them or guarantee their availability, accuracy or permission to reuse their content.

Publishing, recreating and respecting creators

Before publishing or sharing a recipe, recreation, image, review or other content, you must hold the necessary rights and permissions. Prefer your own cooking photographs and independently written instructions, and identify sources where appropriate. There is no number of edits or percentage of changes that automatically makes someone else's work yours. A recreation or AI rewrite does not remove the original creator's rights. Ingredient facts and cooking methods can be treated differently from expressive instructions, photographs, video, music and compilations. Do not publicly repost protected source images or text without a lawful basis. An app feature or an import button is not a copyright license. You are responsible for the content you submit and the permissions it requires.

Your content and the license you grant

You retain ownership of the rights you hold in your content. To provide the service, you grant CookSocial a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, resize, format, process and display content you submit for the features you use. When you choose to publish a post, recipe, recreation or review, you additionally grant CookSocial a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, display, distribute, translate, edit, adapt and create derivative works from that public content, including its images, ingredient lists and instructions, for operating, developing and promoting CookSocial and its cooking-related services. This includes curated recipe collections, discovery features, newsletters, websites, social channels and advertisements. We may use the public display name, handle and avatar associated with a post to identify or credit its creator. We may sublicense these rights to service providers, distribution platforms and promotional partners solely for those purposes, and transfer the license with the relevant CookSocial business. We do not owe a royalty for uses covered by this license. We will not knowingly misrepresent your content or imply your endorsement of an unrelated product. This license excludes promotion using private imports, unpublished drafts, private food logs or health information, and does not authorize unrelated resale or general-purpose AI-model training; those uses require separate permission. You may delete your public content to end new promotional uses and ordinary display under this license. We will remove uses we control within a reasonable period, but previously distributed materials, lawful archival records, backups and independent copies made by others may remain. Nothing here transfers your ownership, overrides nonwaivable rights or gives us rights you do not own or have authority to license.

Reports, moderation and copyright complaints

You may report infringing, unsafe or abusive content through the contact listed below. For a copyright complaint, identify the protected work and the CookSocial content or URL, describe your authority to act, provide contact details and include a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorized and that your information is accurate. We may request additional information, restrict or remove content, and suspend accounts for repeated infringement or serious misuse. We consider disputes and applicable notice procedures before restoring removed content. We do not claim that these Terms alone qualify CookSocial for a legal safe harbor.

AI tools and recipe safety

AI can generate, extract, adapt or classify recipes, recognize dishes and ingredients, suggest meals and estimate nutrition. Outputs may be incomplete, misleading, nonunique, inaccurate or unsafe, and a recipe may not work as expected. Check quantities, units, temperatures, cooking times, equipment and instructions before cooking. Use reliable food-safety guidance for raw foods, storage, reheating, canning and vulnerable individuals. You decide whether to use an output and must independently verify it. We do not guarantee a cooking outcome or that an AI output is free of third-party rights.

Nutrition, allergens and dietary labels

CookSocial provides general information and organizational tools, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. We are not your doctor or dietitian. Calorie and macro estimates may be inaccurate for both recipes and food-log entries, including totals shown for a meal or day. This applies to imported, community and AI-generated recipes, photo-recognized foods, barcode scans, food-database results and manually selected portions. Actual values can differ because of incomplete or outdated source data, ingredient brands, substitutions, preparation, cooking losses, serving sizes, measurement error or AI mistakes. Logging or saving a value does not verify it. Do not rely on these estimates for medical decisions or precise dietary requirements; check reliable product information and consult a qualified professional when accuracy is important. Dietary tags and ingredient-avoidance labels may also be wrong. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and similar labels are not certifications. Never rely on a label, photo recognition or an ingredient filter to determine allergen safety or cross-contact risk. Read packaging and verify with the manufacturer or preparer. Ask a qualified professional about medical conditions, pregnancy, eating disorders, allergies or changing diet and activity. Do not delay professional care because of information in the app. No health, weight or fitness result is promised.

Additional safeguards for teenagers

Recipe features are available from age 13, subject to the eligibility rules above. Personalized calorie and weight-goal recommendations are for adults aged 18 or older; they are not designed for growing children or teenagers. Users under 18 should seek guidance from a parent or guardian and an appropriately qualified professional about nutrition needs. Do not use another person's age to obtain adult-only recommendations. Before using the identity or likeness of a creator known to be a minor in advertising, we will obtain any separate parent or guardian authorization required by law. The public-content license does not override these safeguards.

CookSocial Club, trials and billing

Your purchase screen and the applicable store checkout specify your plan, price, currency, billing interval, trial eligibility and renewal terms. An annual plan is billed for the full year, even where we display a monthly equivalent. Eligible subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial; unless you cancel before renewal, it converts to the selected paid subscription and renews automatically. Apple purchases are billed to your Apple account and managed in your device subscription settings. Follow the store's cancellation deadline, including cancelling at least 24 hours before the end of a trial or billing period where required by Apple. Uninstalling the app, signing out, declining updated Terms or deleting an account does not cancel a store subscription. Cancellation normally stops the next renewal; current access lasts through the applicable period. Refunds, statutory withdrawal rights and billing disputes follow the seller's rules and applicable law. Store checkout terms and actual localized prices control over promotional examples.

Tokens, promotional passes and offers

Some nonmember actions consume tokens as disclosed before confirmation. An AI search or recognition action may spend a token when results are returned even if you do not save them; additional previews or imports may require additional tokens. Failure credits follow the policy shown for that action. Tokens have no cash value, are not transferable and are not a financial product. Eligible original community contributions may earn tokens; spam, duplicate posting and manipulation do not qualify. Complimentary passes are not paid subscriptions and expire on the displayed date without charging you unless you separately purchase a subscription. A promotional pass does not shorten an existing paid period. Offers may have eligibility restrictions, and a trial or promotion is not guaranteed for every account. We will honor purchased benefits and mandatory consumer rights.

Availability and changes

We may maintain, update or discontinue features, address misuse and change prospective offers or usage limits. We will provide notices and remedies where required by law and will not use these Terms to remove mandatory rights for a paid subscription. We may suspend access for material violations, fraud, security risks or legal requirements, with notice and an opportunity to resolve matters where appropriate. Contact us about an account restriction or to request deletion.

Disclaimers and responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, the service and third-party or AI content are provided as available without promises of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or noninfringement. You remain responsible for lawful imports, posts and your cooking decisions. To the extent legally permitted, CookSocial is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability arising from the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid CookSocial for the service during the preceding 12 months or US $100. These limits do not exclude fraud, willful misconduct, liability for death or personal injury where it cannot lawfully be excluded, or any mandatory consumer, privacy or other statutory rights. They do not absolve CookSocial of obligations that the law places on it.

Updates, questions and disputes

We publish the current version and effective date here and retain prior versions in our release records. If we make a material change requiring renewed agreement, we will ask you to review and agree before continuing signed-in use. Minor clarifications do not automatically trigger another prompt. Contact us first about a concern so we can try to resolve it. Nothing here prevents you from contacting a regulator or bringing a claim in a court available under applicable law.
